Casement windows are the most popular choice of replacement window. Their versatility enables you to choose the position of the opening sashes according to your needs. Also, a variety of styles is available, including a choice of colours and woodgrain effects for the frames.
All our casement windows offer internally glazed double glazing options and are compatible with the latest high security locking systems. We fix all hinges, locks and keeps directly into steel reinforcement, and we fit security features such as multi-point locking and double-locking handles.

Our PVC u windows never flake, rot, peel or rust. They never need painting, and wipe clean quickly and easily. If you prefer a more traditional feeling, you will appreciate the natural texture of our PVCu Woodgrain windows. With mahogany or Light oak finishes on the exterior and white on the interior, they offer you all the beauty of wood but without the work. Wherever you wish, ask for the option of toughened glass which shatters only into small, relatively harmless pieces.
Secondary Glazing is a special type of glazing construction where an additional pane of glass is added to the inside of an existing single-glazed window. Secondary glazing is often used for SOUND INSULATION – especially if your existing windows don't need replacing or where there are planning restrictions on replacement windows.
Secondary Glazing provides better sound reduction as well as heat insulation than standard single-glazed windows and many would consider it essential for houses close to busy roads or other high noise generating objects.
When considering windows there are generally three options available for maximum achievable sound attenuation (reduction):
Designed by Summit Windows Secondary glazing is designed to blend with your existing windows and decor. Our secondary glazing is an aluminium system - ideal as the strength of the aluminium means that you can have maximum glass area and minimal metal showing. We are also able to spray the metal any 1 of approx 200 colours if necessary.
We can put many types of glass into your secondary glazing. As standard we use 4mm "float" glass, but toughened (breaks into small pieces) and laminated glass (like your car windscreen) all work very well. If you are trying to reduce noise then we recommend laminated or specialist "Stadip" glass. If you wish to improve heat loss then we may recommend using a "low-e" glass - but the expense isn't always necessary as every customer has unique circumstances.
Our horizontal sliding secondary glazing can be from 400mm to 4900mm wide and between 400mm and 2600mm high and as well as all types of glazzing in aluminium we also can do this in upvc. The panels slide on either wheels or hard wearing nylon skids. In the closed position the panels click and latch onto the outer frame. The secondary comes in white, brown or silver colours as standard, or we can colour it in any of 200+ RAL colours. A wide range glazing is available including double glazed (Heavy Duty system), acoustic and K. Horizontal sliding secondary is available with between 2 and 5 panels.
Ideal for Sash Windows, our vertical sliding (VS) panels are slimline and look great. Our ‘Tilt Back Balanced’ panels tilts in for access to your existing windows and to aid cleaning. We also offer a non-tilting version for situations where the tilt is not required - such as schools. Our most economical VS is the non-balanced, non-tilting panel. Our ‘Heavy Duty’ system can take a double glazed unit for maximum results.
Our Fixed & Hinged panels are super slimline and extremely affordable. They simply attach to your existing windows and can be fitted in a matter of minutes. They have a built in woolpile on the back of the frame to form a tight seal with your existing windows, without using any messy sealants.
Our hinged secondary comes in either single or double panel configurations. The panels open using either friction hinges or butt hinges - with butt hinges giving the maximum clear opening. Friction hinged panels have the advantage that they can be top hung in addition to side hung. A wide variety of glazing options are available for energy saving and noise reduction.
Lift Out units are ideal if you occasionally wish to get to the existing windows. The panel can simply be removed, leaving a clear opening, then replaced when done. Flyscreens panels are available which can be used in the summer months instead of the glass
Our windows are supplied with tilting sashes as standard to allow for ease of cleaning, with tilt restrictors to ensure the mechanism works smoothly and safely. Optional extras include decorative horns, deep bottom rail and travel restrictors for both sashes.
Decorative features are further enhanced by the use of ovolo shaped beads, equal sightlines and a range of decorative Georgian fret and authentic traditional Georgian bar options. For those who prefer a true timber appearance, the window is available in mahogany, rosewood or light oak options. Or with a timber appearance to the outside face with a white finish inside, to maintain a light airy appearance to the interior.
Our aluminium replacement sash windows are technically advanced, durable, highly versatile and easy to install. High density polypropylene pile, with integral weatherfin, is located on both sides of the sashes to ensure that there is no metal to metal contact as well as a weathertight seal.
Aluminium sash windows are thermally broken to help reduce heat loss and condensation as well asoffering a slim elegant profile suitable for replacing traditional box sash windows in sensitive conservation areas.
Summit Double Glazing's Aluminium Sash windows more resistant to warping, twisting or sticking when subjected to the elements. They are also virtually intruder proof. Additionally aluminium neither absorbs water, rots or rusts.
In the last decade aluminium windows have decreased in popularity mainly because it became a more expensive alternative than PVCu. Additionally the insulation qualities of aluminium are quite poor when compared to PVCu and it was often susceptible to condensation. This lack of insulation is partly remedied by installing a 'thermal break' in the aluminium frame. If you chose aluminium for your replacement windows we would only suggest you consider windows with a thermal break.
Aluminium is a good choice for commercial locations and any situation where strength is a major issue.
Aluminium windows can be fitted as 'direct fix' - i.e. directly against the brickwork or alternatively (and more often) into a hardwood subframe.

The PVCu window frames have been designed to provide optimum strength, superior thermal properties and excellent weathering performance whilst retaining their pristine appearance year after year with the minimum of maintenance.
Manufactured from a formulation which includes a high impact modifier to withstand cold weather and a UV light resistant pigment to maintain colour and appearance for years to come, the profile will not degrade, bend or warp. Structural strength is enhanced through the use of steel or aluminium reinforcement through the internal chambers of the profile. To further increase stability and strength all fixings and hardware are secured to this reinforcement.
Thermal properties are improved by the use of 24mm glazing as standard and excellent weathering performance is improved with a Pile Seal detail on the sash edges and outer frame. All our glass units are sourced from approved suppliers, audited to BS EN ISO 9001 quality standards. The units are manufactured and tested to BS EN 1279 and all toughened units are manufactured and tested to BS 6206.
Air flow specification can be achieved through the use of trickle or glazed in vents to suit particular applications as required.

Normally where existing doors are situated they can be replaced with a Bi-folding door with little disruption to exsisting openings. Our experienced team will help you to understand disability access issues and ensure that your building's access complies with the Disability Disabled Act regulations.
Simular to Sliding doors Bi-folding doors have a battery back up system which will lead to the doors opening in the event of power failure or fire alarm activation. Bi folding doors can be supplied with a Full Break-out facility if required
